TALKING TREES & SATORI MOVEMENT W/ CRAIG NEJEDLY: HIGH RISE CANNABIS PODCAST

IF YOU HAVEN'T PICKED IT UP YET, WE WE'RE RAISED ON SKATEBOARDS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, HOME OF THE SKATING INDUSTRY. PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING WE LEARNED TO START HIGH RISE CAME FROM TRIALS AND ERRORS ON OUR SKATEBOARDS. OVER THE YEARS WE'VE GOTTEN A CHANCE TO CONNECT WITH SKATERS WHO HAVE ALSO TAKEN THE CANNABIS COMMUNITY JOURNEY AND WHETHER OR NOT WE KNEW EACH OTHER IN THE SKATE WORLD IT ALWAYS SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE A SPECIAL BOND WORKING IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY.

AS SKATERS WE LOOKED UP TO GUYS LIKE TIM GAVIN, WATCHED BRANDS LIKE SK8MAFIA AND SATORI, NOW WE ARE GETTING TO WORK WITH THE GUYS WE LOOKED UP TO AS TEENAGERS. ONE BRAND, THE ONLY BRAND, IN SKATEBOARDING THAT HAS REPRESENTED CANNABIS CULTURE FOR THE LAST 24 YEARS IS SATORI MOVEMENT AND WHEELS, STARTED BY CRAIG NEJEDLY IN 1998. SATORI HAS BEEN RESPECTED OVER THE YEARS AND HAS ALWAYS HAD A SOLID TEAM OF GENUINE SKATERS. SATORI SKATE VIDEOS AND TEAM RIDERS ALWAYS ROCKED EARTH TONES, MAN BUNS, DREADS AND SKATED TO REGGAE. SEEING THE BRAND EVOLVE OVER 2 DECADES WE WANTED TO PICK HIS BRAIN ON LONGEVITY AND ALL OF THE FIRES THAT COME WITH RUNNING A BRAND AND RIDING WAVES.

THE SIMILARITIES IN THE SKATEBOARD AND CANNABIS CULTURE ARE SOMETHING THAT WE UNDERSTAND DEEPLY AND OWE A LOT OF OUR SUCCESS TO. WE WANTED TO HEAR CRAIG'S THOUGHTS AND HOW SKATING HAS INFLUENCED HIM RUNNING HIS CANNABIS BRAND TALKING TREES FARMS. LIVING IN HUMBOLDT FOR 20+ YEARS CRAIG HAS SEEN THIS INDUSTRY EVOLVE, FROM THE OLD DAYS OF RUNNING PACKS TO GETTING PERMITS FOR OWL CONSERVATION ON HIS PROPERTY. "RESILIENCE" WAS A WORD THAT KEPT COMING UP FOR DEALING WITH THE STRUGGLES NAVIGATING THE LEGAL CANNABIS MARKET.

IT WAS A PLEASURE GETTING A CHANCE TO SPEAK TO AN OG OF THE TWO COMMUNITIES THAT WE HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE A PART OF. CRAIG'S DEMEANOR AND HUMBLE SPIRIT EMBODIES THE DEFINITION OF HIS BRANDS NAME "SATORI", IT'S NO WONDER HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO KEEP THE MOVEMENT GOING DECADES LATER.
